About

Me

Hi, my name is Andrzej Koloska. I’ve been in game development for over 18 years, with hands-on Unreal Engine experience dating back to Unreal Engine 3 version. While my roots are in production, the past decade has seen me thrive as a generalist, consistently gravitating toward the technical side of development. Game creation — and everything connected to it — is not just my profession, it’s my passion.

The blog

There are three main reasons I’m starting this blog. First, I want to share my knowledge of game development and Unreal Engine with you. Second, I feel I owe the supportive community behind the Shooter Tutorial some fresh content. And finally, I need a kind of personal wiki — a place to document and organize what I’ve learned over the years.

I’ll be covering a wide range of topics: tech art, graphics, programming, game and level design, engine tools, production, business — essentially, anything related to game development.

I’m an old-school guy, so most tutorials will be in written form, though some may include videos when it makes sense.

I hope you find something useful here — and maybe even inspiring.

Some history: Shooter Tutorial was one of the first large-scale tutorial series for Unreal Engine 4. It even received support through the Epic MegaGrants program. However, as the engine evolved, the tutorials became outdated. They were also hosted on my server, which was occasionally hacked—and eventually, I lost access to it altogether. I’ve now decided to start fresh: rebuilding everything from scratch, this time hosted on WordPress and based on the latest version of Unreal Engine 5.
