Over the past few years, I’ve been really busy and haven’t had much free time — and to be honest, that hasn’t changed much. But what has changed is that I’ve gained a lot more technical experience. A decade ago, I was working as a producer and learning programming, art, and other skills in my spare time. Since then, I’ve gradually shifted roles, and now, more than 80% of my daily work involves technical tasks.
These days, making games involves keeping track of tons of different things, especially when you’re a generalist like me who works across many areas. That’s why I’ve decided to create a space where I can share what I’ve learned and also build a kind of personal wiki for myself.
One of my big dreams is to create and release a game on my own. This blog marks the beginning of that journey. That said, the blog won’t be about that game — at least not yet. For now, the focus will be on tutorials.
I’m moving on from the Shooter Tutorial project. The Unreal Engine 4 Book is outdated, and even my old server got hacked a couple of times — I don’t have access to it anymore. But don’t worry — I’m planning a new tutorial series: “Let’s create a small game from scratch.” One of the ideas on that list is a “Standing Endless Shooter.”
I think this new series will be a better, more practical learning experience than the Shooter Tutorial ever was.
If you’d like to support what I’m doing, here’s how you can help:
- Check out the tutorial backlog and vote on what’s most important to you
- Let me know what kinds of tutorials you’d like to see
- Follow the new X and Facebook pages to get updates when new content is posted
Thanks for sticking around — and see you soon!
